History
Parents:
• Mother: Joan (Oakley) Ritter, has been running a small makeover business from her home for the past five years and is doing quite well with it. She's constantly running here and there for her work.
• Father: Kenneth Ritter, works in the corporate world, and is kind of gruff and very emotionally detached from his son and family. He's often out of town for business for weeks at a time.
Siblings:
• Maureen Ritter, is now 26 years old, and engaged to get married. She has a job in network marketing for a big company in Kansas City, Kansas. She only comes to visit on the holidays, as her days are busy working and planning her wedding.
• Nancy Ritter, is 22 and finishing up her last year of college at the University of Columbia in Missouri. She currently has a girlfriend; much to her parent's surprise and has been living with her for three years now. She comes to visit as often as she can, and stays in touch with Lucas via the internet.
Deceased
• David Ritter, would have been 24 had he lived. He died in in a car crash 11 years before Lucas came along. Lucas is rather sad that he never got to know his brother, and knows that he's constantly being compared to his dead brother all the time. He knows he doesn't come anywhere close to being anything like him and knows that this is a disappointment to his father.
Date of Birth: February 21st 1999
Place of Birth: Rural New York City
Location:
Nationality: Irish, British, Australian
Best Friend (s): None, he's not particularly into what other kids his age are so he's often left alone and keeps to himself.
Anything Special:
History Overall: Lucas was a surprise baby for his parents, as he came along only a year after David passed away. For awhile, he had a happy childhood, though his uncanny resemblance to his dead brother did bug his parents a lot. They almost thought that they had gotten another chance with their dead son. It didn't take long though, for the differences between them to become apparent.
Where David had been an extrovert and very friendly, Lucas was very much an introvert and very wary of other people. When something bothered him or got out of hand he would retreat to a corner to look at a book or play with a toy. It didn't take long for them to discover that Lucas was really smart, almost freakishly so. His parents tried to get him into an elite school so that he'd have better chances later in life. It didn't take Lucas long to hate the school and start acting out. No one could figure out why he disliked the place so much, or why he would never talk about it. He grew calmer and more open to others when he was placed in a public school and began to blossom.
There was a bit of contention between him and his parents when they tried to have him wear the same type of clothes that David wore. He took all the designer clothing they had got him and took it to a shelter and donated it. They didn't really appreciate his doing this, and told him that if he wanted clothes he'd have to get them from a thrift store thinking that he would object. To their surprise, Lucas gladly did so. That's where he got his bright blue suspenders that he wears to school practically every day, and tons and tons of knee length socks and jean shorts.
He's not really close to his older sisters, though Nancy makes a point to email and IM him all the time. Mostly she asks about what he's doing in school and will give him some advice about making friends and how to deal with bullies. She doesn't have much time to talk on the phone, but he tends to call her every now and then when he has a problem he needs help with. She's normally the only one he can talk to about his life and what's going on. She was closest with David, and she rather hated how her parents treated Lucas when he was younger. She rather regrets having to go away to college when Lucas needed her the most. Maureen merely calls her family once a month and sends birthday cards and comes to visit during special holidays. She's kind of focused on creating the life she wants with her fiance to see what's been going on with Lucas and her parents.
Lucas and his parents have recently moved from the house in the country where he spent most of his life to a town house in the city. He's not very pleased with the move, even though the house is now closer to his parents' circle of friends and his father's work place. He misses being able to have strange pets, and is a bit perturbed that he had to give up his pet mice and gerbils and settle for a turtle and an aquarium full of fish. He's constantly getting head colds and sinus problems, of which he's not getting any relief from with any medicine he is given. He believes its because he's allergic to the city's pollutions.
